Our History

GAC Laser commenced trading (as Docks Shipping) in the late 1920s and has for many years been recognised as the leading clearing agent in the textile industry. In 1999 Docks Shipping was acquired by Laser. During 2001 Laser also acquired Project Freight, a clearing agent based in Durban and Johannesburg. The businesses both traded as Laser International Logistics, the clearing and forwarding division of The Laser Group.

With effect 1 January 2007 the division was transferred into GAC Laser International Logistics, a joint venture between Laser and GAC.

Significant investments have been made in the warehousing operations with 28 000sq metres available nationally. Warehousing services include value-add packaging, palleting, labeling of product and specialised cargo handling.

GAC Laser’s client base includes blue chip customers operating a multitude of industries including inter alia: textiles, timber, aluminium and steel, citrus, photographic and filming equipment and appliances.

GAC Laser has offices in each of South Africa’s major cities. The South African operations are complemented through the GAC International network.
